New Moon in Scorpio
On Friday (1st November) at 12.46 pm (GMT) we have the New Moon in transformative Scorpio. There is a lot of restructuring and transforming energy around this New Moon. Be honest with yourself about what you want and the changes you want to make in your life. Anything is possible, you just have to believe.
This week’s blog will look at the energy around this New Moon and how you can work with it. For the first time, I’ve also included what this New Moon means for you!!
New Moons mark the start of a new lunar cycle. This is a time to set our intentions for the next 4 weeks, which will help us to achieve our goals. Generally, anything started under a New Moon should be completed by the Full Moon in the same sign. This gives us a 6-month container to work with. (The Full Moon in Scorpio is on the 12th of May 2025) When making New Moon Wishes, you can go as big or as small as you like. If you make a big wish, you can break it down into smaller, manageable goals. This allows you to track your progress as we move through each lunar cycle.
Not all New Moon’s are the same. They are flavoured by the zodiac sign that the Moon is in at the time and influenced by the other planets. A New Moon is always in the same sign as the Sun, giving us a double dose of the sign's energy to work with. This is why people work with this energy to set their goals.
Scorpio is one of the four fixed signs, which follow the cardinal signs and fix in place the things we have previously started. These are the most stubborn and determined signs, and they are known for their strength and ability to see things through. Scorpio has themes around regeneration, transformation and renewal, making it the ideal New Moon to set intentions around revealing things that are hidden, healing the deepest parts of yourself and making lasting changes in your life. Scorpio doesn’t have time for the superficial, they want to get to the root cause.
As one of the three Water element signs, Scorpio is intense, passionate, emotional, powerful and complex. The water signs feel all of the feelings and are very protective. This can make Scorpio possessive and obsessive. This is the sign of the zodiac that follows their desires. When they decide they like something or someone, they go all in. This New Moon is a good time to make more time for the things you are passionate about and listen to your intuition more. What tools can you use to help you connect with your intuition? What are the things that light you up? What do you need to heal to move forward?
When setting your Scorpio New Moon intentions, we can use the themes and energy of this sign to help us. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to get the most from this energy.
What are my intentions for this lunar cycle?
Where can I be less fearful?
What do I need to heal?
Where can I transform?
How can I express my deepest emotions?
How can I reconnect with my passions?
There are also some practical ways to work with this New Moon. As the sign that likes to uncover truths and get to the bottom of things, investing your time in a research project, investigating something or doing tasks that need analysis works really well. Scorpio can be secretive and over-protective, so make sure you are protecting your privacy, especially in today's social media-obsessed world. Not every second of your life needs to be shared online. If you are looking to deepen your connection to yourself and your intuition, then learning to meditate or deepening your current practice is a great way to start. You could also use divination tools to help you. Or invest in a tarot reading to see what it uncovers. Other ways to work with this intense, complex and occult-loving energy includes doing physical activities and listening to or making atmospheric music. Let’s not forget the sexy and erotic Scorpio vibe, is it time to inject some more passion into your relationships?
This New Moon is harmonising with Saturn which is currently retrograde in Pisces. Whenever a planet is in retrograde, we get a slowing down of the energy. Saturn is the planet of karma, limitation and restriction. So while it is retrograde, we are invited to look at the structures we have in place, our responsibilities and commitments. In the dreamy sign of Pisces which loves flow and fantasy, finding structure in reality can be a challenge. This is a time to get your inner world in order, to listen to your intuition and to show up.
With respect to the New Moon, Saturn’s influence will be good for work situations, maybe a new job or promotion is coming up. It will also be a good time to look at the structures in your life and make positive, lasting changes. Keeping the Pisces energy in mind, where do you need a bit of structure to allow yourself to flow with ease?
We also have Pluto squaring up against this New Moon. When two planets make a square it tends to be a challenging aspect, but with Pluto in Capricorn, we have water and earth energy, which tends to be a good thing. Pluto also rules Scorpio, so the themes around both are likely to be amplified. We are talking about Phoniex rising from the ashes type changes and transformation.
While Pluto hangs out in the last degrees of Capricorn, we are invited to look at where our lives need to be restructured, where we are resisting change and where we are letting old pains influence and impact our futures.
Pluto’s influence on this New Moon could take us to hidden places and uncover hidden truths. We may get more than we bargained for. A profound transformation is possible, a real change that will have a permanent impact, but it may not come in an appealing or easy form.
